Special coach deals at Air Tattoo
A discount of £10 per ticket is available on groups of 20+ arriving in one vehicle – a 27 per cent reduction on the £37.50 cost of a standard admission ticket. Last year, the discount offered was £4.95.
The Air Tattoo, which takes place on 17-18 July, is the world’s largest military airshow and attracts more than 160,000 people – and around 250 aircraft - each year. Official tributes marking the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain will form the centrepiece of this summer’s event.
Aircraft from around the globe – from fast jets and helicopters to bombers and transporters – will join many of the world’s most spectacular aerobatic display teams, including the RAF’s legendary Red Arrows, in a seven-and-a-half hour flying display.
On the ground, there is everything visitors would expect from one of the UK’s biggest and most exciting day’s out, including a display arena, fairground, flight simulators, a vintage car display, a static aircraft park, battling robots plus an interactive Tri@RIAT entertainment area aimed specifically at young people.
Additional benefits offered to coach operators include free entry for coach drivers, a driver rest tent, free on-site coach park on hardstanding area, designated entrance and exit gate, sale or return ticket facility, free marketing material plus a website link on airtattoo.com. The data for the website last year shows that there were 381,040 online visitors between 18 June 2009 and 17 July 2009.
“The Royal International Air Tattoo is one of the UK’s biggest outdoor summer events and attracts a huge audience,” says the Air Tattoo’s deputy director of marketing Helen Webb. “Not only does it offer a memorable day out but the cost is extremely competitive when compared to other premier family days out.
“Not only have we significantly increased the discount for coach operators but this year we have also brought down the minimum group size from 25 to 20.”
Peter Carol Prestige Coaching of Bristol ran one coach tour on each day last year and said it proved very popular. Tour organiser Jackie Cook says: “The Air Tattoo has a good following of people who go year after year. We particularly value the Air Tattoo’s sale or return policy as this is becoming less common with events.”
Mrs Lynda Frisby, reservations manager for Bakers Dolphin Coach Company said the Air Tattoo is always very popular. “Last year we ran a 71-seat double-decker on the Saturday and a 48-seat single decker on the Sunday from Taunton and we plan to do the same again this year.
“We also like the fact that you now only have to buy 20 tickets to qualify for the group discount, with extra tickets purchased on a sale or return basis. It’s a good arrangement for us.”
