Panama - China out in Panama

Two manufacturers  – Volvo and Mercedes-Benz – are being considered for the supply of 420 buses for Panama’s Transmóvil project, which will improve public transport in Panama City. A third potential supplier, the Higer Bus Company from China, has been excluded from the bidding for allegedly falsifying documentation. Volvo’s bid price is reportedly $174,000 (£123,000), while that from Mercedes agent Grupo Q, is $181,000 (£128,000). Before it was disqualified Higer was quoting $116,000 (£82,000) per bus.
