Bolton is aiming to make it easier for coach drivers and parties to enjoy their visits to the town with the introduction of new coach parking and facilities.

The town has a strong reputation for coach trips and putting on crowd-pulling events such as the Bolton Food and Drink Festival. It also attracts people who come to experience its history, heritage and culture and try out the places to eat, drink and shop.

The new free coach parking and easy access points enable passengers to be dropped-off and picked-up directly outside Bolton Market and there are reserved coach parking bays adjacent to the building which compliments a £4.5million redevelopment of the venue.

Also new to the market is a new lifestyle hall with a food court and seating area, micro pub, award-winning fresh food halls and more than 300 stalls offering bargains on a huge range of products including watches, clothing, gifts and children’s toys.

A number of top chefs have demonstrated their cooking skills in the lifestyle hall including former Coronation Street star Sean Wilson entertaining hundreds of fans using produce bought fresh from the market.

Sean Wilson praised the quality of the food market and range of produce on offer at Bolton Market: “The food market here is great – you can get lamb’s hearts, lamb’s liver, ox hearts. People might cringe when I talk about offal but we’re northerners – my grandma introduced me to offal and markets still sell it. I like cooking it.

“I like Bolton. People still come here because their mum or their grandma or even their great grandma came here,” he adds.

Coach drivers are promised a warm welcome and can book a free meal.
