FlixBus extends international coach services from London
A month after the launch of the first FlixBus international coach services from the UK, the company has extended its network to include direct links from London to Brussels, Leuven and Antwerp in Belgium, Frankfurt, Bonn, Dortmund, Nuremberg and Düsseldorf in Germany, and Czech capital Prague. New twice-daily services are now operating between London and cities in Belgium, Germany and the Czech republic, in addition to the original services to France launched in March.
Since its inception, Flixbus has put its web-based technology at the heart of its business plan, ensuring ease of booking through a smartphone. Tickets are sold at various travel agencies and at FlixBus’ ticket shops, but customers can also obtain them via a free mobile app and check-in digitally with a QR-code.
“Although travelling by coach has been popular for a long time – we want to freshen it up a bit and look at it from a different point of view,” says Bettina Engert, FlixBus spokesperson. “Given the modern customers’ need for a fast flow of content, it’s essential for us to provide information about our new routes as timely as possible and ensure all relevant details are easily found by the customer. We’re bringing everything to our passenger’s fingertips.”
The former start-up aims to build on its technology platform and is enabling booking flexibility, including ticket cancellations and re-bookings free of charge up to 15 minutes before departure. The mobile app also provides passengers with access to current route information and they can use the navigation tool to find their point of departure.
“We realise that travelling isn’t just about getting from A to B,” adds Engert. “Our priorities are based on our ability to provide a set of premium services to contemporary customers.”
